Committing to Jillian

If you know me, you would know that I hate working out. Thankfully, I never had to really work too hard to maintain the same body or lose weight — I thank my fast metabolism for that. Of course, once I had Lennox, my body changed a little. I’m actually the same weight I have been for years (minus when I was pregnant) but let’s just weight has moved around my body and some of my clothes no longer fit.

So, when I saw everyone starting to start-up the 30 Day Shred for the new year and discussing with a friend at work, we decided it was as good a time as any to give it a shot. Our plan is to do a little cardio workout at lunch during the work week — my work has a gym on site — and then do 30 Day Shred at home. Although we won’t be doing that together, we can still hold each other accountable – which is what I need. Another reason why I’m writing this here — I’m hoping it will help keep me committed ot completing 30 days — because really — it’s only 30 days, right? I can do this.

Again.. I hate working out.. HATE IT, but.. I’m going to do it!

I have completed 3 days of the 30 Day Shred, here are my thoughts thus far:

30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels

Day 1:

I had no idea what to even expect. I have seen Jillian on the Biggest Loser, I have seen how tough she is. I’m actually watching her scream at people as I type this! I hear about people doing insanity, P90X and the shred and wanting to puke — oh the joys! Well.. after I did the first day, I too wanted to puke, but after a few minutes of resting, I was fine, thankfully. Of course everyone told me, just wait until the morning. Yes, I woke up in the middle of the night sore, as well as in the morning — but actually, it wasn’t too bad by around noon the next day. So while Lennox napped, I started Day 2.

Day 2:

I’m already sick of hearing Jillian say the same things over and over, but I knew what to expect this time. It was actually a pretty “easy” workout for me. I still had to take 3 or 4, 10 second breaks but I was less sore after this work out (for the moment) and not green feeling! I would have to say, I hate the side lunges w/ bicep curls and the jump rope action — ouch!

Day 3:

When I woke up in the morning, I was SO VERY SORE. My shoulders and my legs were killing me. Once I got up and moved around, it really didn’t get any better. By Lennox’s nap time I figured it was as good a time as any to do Day 3. I found Day 3 a little harder than Day 2 because of being sore. Not that I couldn’t do it, it just hurt more in my legs and arms.

I won’t be doing Day 4 until the evening, so hopefully by then my body will be a little less sore and it will go well.

      Well, i HAVE to do the modified one, I don’t have enough strength to do any others. The first set I can do with out stopping, but the second set.. ha!

    LOL! I feel your pain, that’s why I laugh!
    At first you’re all like “Yea! I got this!! Piece of cake”….. then it hits you and you want to die!

    I love Jillian! The shred is so deceiving bc you think oh it’s only 20 minutes. Even doing the workout it’s like this is easy. And then it hits you the next day!! Good luck 🙂

      I love that it’s only 20 minutes! I dont have time for something longer… it does hurt the next day, but it’s getting better!!

    I’m doing Zumba and Jillian’s Ripped in 30 – I know this is not as hard as the shred and she’s kicking my butt!! Great job sticking with it!!

      How is the Ripped in 30? I have heard that is a good one too. I have never done Zumba before, but I have heard that can kick your butt!

    You are going to hate Jillian in a few days. I liked her at first, but each work out after that, she bugged me! Great job committing to this. I decided to take up the C25K program!

      I still like her, I’m just sick of hearing the same thing each time. I wish they had each level with an intro and then a version that was for repeat days!
