Last week we had the fun day of going to see Sesame Street Live, Can’t Stop Singing show in Grand Prairie, TX at the Verizon Theatre. Lennox was so excited all week leading up to Sunday. “We’re going to go see Elmo on sunday!” she would say. Sunday came and went and it was a great day!
I honesty didn’t know what to expect. I thought maybe, it would be a little cheesy. This was the first real character event we had brought Lennox too and I was very impressed. The show itself was very cute and entertaining. There was no cheesy-ness about it! It was the great, loveable and fun Sesame Street we all grew up with and now our children are growing up with.
Can’t Stop Singing was an adventure on Sesame Street when Elmo takes Abby Cadabby’s magic wand and casts a spell over everyone that makes them sing everything, all the time. They had the traditional sesame street songs mixed in with some classic songs that have been “sesame-street-ized!”
… “It’s raining cookies!”.
Before the show started, we were immediately put into Sesame Street mode. You enter the lobby of the venue and they have the Sesame Street Play Zone set up. We got to see some of the characters sing and dance around, there were lots of photo ops set up for parents to take pictures of their little ones and of course, souvenirs, food and toys.
We went and watch the characters and met up with Lennox’s little friends! It was a blast from the past for us, since both of these little girls Lennox has known since she started daycare, but since Lennox moved schools, she hasn’t seen them very much at all. It was so cute to see them all together again!
We stood at 123 Sesame Street. She loved her magic want that Daddy got her and acted silly for pictures. Do you like her outfit? We though it was Sesame Street style!
The show lasted 90 minutes (including a 15 minute intermission). It was just about the right length for someone Lennox’s age. She didn’t get up and dance around as much as expected but she still sat and watched what was going on and talked to Abby from her seat! The intermission was good to get her a change of scenery for a moment, potty break and she could go play in the lobby for a few minutes.
She had a great time until the very end when it was melt down mode. Sorry, but mommy & daddy wouldn’t buy her a balloon (hello, $10 each? I don’t think so! That was my only complaint!)
Would I recommend Sesame Street Live? I sure would! It was a fun afternoon and Lennox had a lot of fun!
