A Summer Evening on the 4th of July

I hope everyone had a happy and safe Independence Day week/weekend these past few days!

I’ve seen lots of family time and fun festivities on Facebook that everyone is doing. I really do miss 4th of July back in my home town, Chatham – Cape Cod, but since that just isn’t a possibility most years for us, we have found some new fun traditions! We always end the day with heading out to a park around Lake Grapevine, in Grapevine TX. My brother and sister-in-law know the owners of the firework company so we have scoped out the best spot to sit and get there early to enjoy the summer evening.

It is an evening, that thankfully this year was pretty bearable (head wise), full of playing catch & football….

Having WAY too many glow sticks (actually, I don’t think its possible to have too many!)

…and then of course, ending the evening with a fantastic show of Fireworks!

So although I would love to bring Lennox to the tradition fourth of July parade that we have back home or even here – I haven’t found a good one yet. I will have to be on the look out for more next year! Until then, this was a great way to spend the evening and celebrate America’s Birthday!

How do you celebrate the 4th of July with your family?
