Halloween is just a few weeks away and one of the many things left to do is to carve the pumpkins! We have 5 pumpkins this year. They are all outside decorating our walkway and garden but eventually most of them will get carved. Unfortunately, since its so warm in Texas still – we can’t carve until closer to Halloween. 90 degree weather + a carved pumpkin = mushy pumpkin before Halloween! So this year we are trying something new! I received a number of carving kits from Pumpkin Masters and tried out the Surface Carving kit first. I am hoping that this type of carving will hold up better with our hot weather!
So this afternoon we decided to carve a spider in our first pumpkin! I was a little skeptical if the tools were going to work, but they worked REALLY well. Lennox was even able to help carve the spider. The fact that the carving tool had a long handle and easy for little hands, worked out well too.
Something that is really nice in the surface pumpkin carving kit is that each stencil has a difficulty rating. We stuck with easy for the first one – but I think as long as you have the time and patience, you could do any level of difficulty that was in the kit. Some are just more time-consuming than others.
Pumpkin Masters has a wide range of pumpkin carving kits this year – including a kid’s carving kit, decorating punches (I can’t wait to try this one!), paint kits and the basic stencil / carving kits that we all know! You can find the wide range of products at your local grocery, drug, or craft store, and nationally at Target and Walmart.
As a special Halloween treat to you, I am giving away a Pumpkin Masters Carving Prize Pack! Everything in the picture below will be included in your prize pack. The giveaway is open to US residents only (sorry Canadians friends) and will be open until Friday October 18th at 12AM. The winner will be selected within Rafflecopter and given 48 hours to respond.
Good luck and Happy Halloween!
