Grapevine Christmas Wine Train

Grapevine Texas means business when it comes down to Christmas. Grapevine is known as the Christmas Capital of Texas and I would have to say I agree with that.

Grapevine Texas The Christmas Capital of TexasEverything downtown is decorated; there is even music playing from the old speakers as you walk through town. It’s almost like stepping back in time or into a holiday movie – and it’s just awesome!Grapevine Texas The Christmas Capital of TexasWe headed down to Grapevine Main Street on Thursday evening for a date night and a ride on the Christmas Wine Train! This would be the Polar Express…for adults! How the Wine Train works is you board the train at 7pm – its general seating, no assigned seating – so if you go with a large group, make sure to get there a little early and board as a group.

Each passenger gets 2 glasses of wine included and then you can purchase additional for $5/glass; water and soft drinks are complimentary. Each train ride features a different winery and restaurant to cater the delicious food. I actually missed the name of who was sponsoring this train ride but I’m trying to find out so that I can share it with everyone!Grapevine Christmas Wine TrainOnce the train gets going, warm h’orderves are passed around – but even though they are h’orderves – they give you plenty. We had enough to eat while on the train that we didn’t need to go to dinner after! We had bacon wrapped shrimp, bacon wrapped scallops, beef wellington, wrap sandwiches, mini pizzas, shrimp cocktail and stuffed mushrooms. It was all SO good! I may have had 3 helpings of beef wellington!

After dinner came desserts – which were just as heavenly! A mixture of mini cheesecakes, cookies, biscuits. It was all so yummy and we may have had one of everything!

The train ride lasts around 90 minutes – it goes from Grapevine into North Richland Hills and then heads back to Grapevine. The food is spread out through the whole train ride. It’s a great holiday ride to take with your spouse, best friend or even a group of girlfriends or other couples! The train ride is $40 a person and takes place twice a year in December. Reservations are highly recommended as the train usually sells out a head of time! To find out next years dates – make sure to check Grapevine’s Christmas website! heather-kyle-wine-train We had a great time on the train ride and hope to do it again next year!

If you head to Grapevine for the Wine Train or even the North Pole Express that we went on last year, make sure to take the time to stroll through main street and see all the beautiful decorations and Christmas trees – like this one!christmas-tree-grapevine-texasDisclaimer: I received complementary tickets for this train ride in return for this post.
