Growing up in the north on Cape Cod, it never really got that hot (or at least not that hot compared to the south!) and we didn’t have to worry about having a drink with us, everywhere we went. It wasn’t dry out either – so we didn’t seem to get as thirsty all the time. Now that we live in Texas, you pretty much always have to have a drink with you. It gets so hot, so quickly and the air is so dry, you are constantly trying to stay hydrated!
With that being said – anytime we head outside for some family play time, a walk, a trip to the playground or even for the day in the car and at work – one of us always has a drink nearby! I tend to get tired of drinking plain water and as a result, don’t drink nearly as much as I should be. Having something that is flavored, even if it adds some calories, helps tremendously. Last week, when I was at Walmart looking for some new alternatives that the whole family would enjoy, I came across the new Ready-To-Drink Kool-Aid display! Everyone loves Kool-Aid and its an affordable, easy drink to grab at home, on the go or at work.
I find the time of day that I drink the least amount of fluid, is while I’m at work. I have tried to get better at this by buying a new water bottle for work and trying some pre-mixed or powdered drinks. A lot of those powdered drinks don’t taste so great though. I saw the Kool-Aid Singles at Walmart and thought I would give those a try! They are so tasty and I find myself drinking much more! The Kool-Aid Singles, really are ideal for work because I can buy a few boxes and leave them in my desk drawer. Also – they are only 30 calories, so that’s not too bad at all. If you are like me, and have a difficult time getting hydrated enough, there are a bunch of apps out there for the iPhone; I downloaded one and it has helped me keep track and it reminds me every few hours to drink something!
The Ready-To-Drink Kool-Aid is great for at home and pouring into a bottle or cup when available, but when we are packing a picnic or snacks for the car, the Kool-Aid Bursts are perfect! They come in all the traditional Kool-Aid flavors and are sealed up good until it’s time to drink! We throw some into our picnic basket, backpack, bike – whatever we are doing before heading out in the heat (yes, it’s already in the 80s here!) and we know we have something that anyone in the family will enjoy drinking!
Lastly, for the times when we are just home, or playing in the front yard – grabbing something I can quickly pour into a cup and head outside with, is ideal.
I love the Grape flavor – it reminds me of a Grape popsicle from when I was a kid! A bottle will last you a pretty long time too because its 96oz and comes in Tropical Punch (Kyle’s favorite), Grape and Watermelon! Go ahead, head to Walmart and buy some this summer! What is your favorite Kool-Aid flavor?
PS- If you live in AL, SC, KY or TN – don’t miss Jim Dillard (pro fisherman) who will be coming to local Walmart’s to help promote the new 96oz Kool-Aid bottles! There will be product giveaways, t-shirts, games and much more! The dates and locations are listed below.
