The weather is at 100 degrees here in Texas, so with the heat, comes the time to have ice cream, popsicles, head to the pool and do anything you can to stay cool! Over the summer, Lennox is still in school all day, so when she gets home from school – it’s nice to have a special treat for her. Sometimes we head to the spray park, sometimes she goes to the pool, or even just rides bikes with friends. The best way to end the day after any of those activities is with a sweet treat! The other day I put together a summer treat that I knew she would love! I made summer cupcakes and cookies with candy popsicles! I loved how this came out because coming with new candy ideas is always fun for kids! This way they get a baked treat with a little something extra, Mike & Ike Zours®!
If you like sour candy and haven’t tried the new ZOURS® from Mike and Ike, you need to! They are the chewy, fruity Mike and Ike’s that we all know and love, but with a sour coating. You get a splash of sour at first and then you finish the candy with a yummy sweet flavor. It’s always fun to give these to someone who hasn’t tried them too, just to see their #Zourface!
Anyway, back to our summer treat! To make these candy popsicles, it really is quite easy!
HOW TO MAKE CANDY POPSICLES
What you will need:
- Toothpicks (cut into short pieces)
- Mike and Ike Zours®
- Cupcakes, Cookies or any sweet treat!
How to Make:
- Cut the toothpicks into smaller pieces, so that they act like popsicle sticks.
- Use Mike and Ike Zours® or regular Mike and Ikes if you have someone who doesn’t always want sour and insert the toothpicks into the bottom of the candy.
- Place the candy on frosting and you have a popsicle treat!
That’s it! This is how they look when you add them to cookies too!
It really is quite easy. For this afternoon, I made some orangesicle cookies (boxed cookies) and cupcakes which were fast to make, but adding some orange flavored frosting and Mike and Ike Zours® candy to the top, they look extra special for the summer, without having to spend the whole hot summer day in the kitchen baking!
If you want to pick up some Zours® for your next summer BBQ, family movie night or even a movie theatre snack, run to your local Walmart! You can find the Mike and Ike Zours® in the candy aisle and sometimes even in the big candy bins near the front of the store (you know, where you grab a box of candy every time you pass it, because they are only $1!). Yeah, me neither 😉
