Pick up some new and different DVD’s this fall

We often hear about so many of the blockbuster hits coming out on DVD that some of the smaller movies or even classics coming to DVD get lost in the shuffle. I have been screening a few new titles that I would like to share with you today!

1. Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart

Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart is musical fairytale adaptation of the french novel La Mecanique du Coeur (The Boy with the Cucko-Clock Heart). The movie is set in the 18th century and is about a boy, Jack who was born on a very cold day with a frozen heart. They bring him back to life by putting a Cockoo-Clock in place of his heart (this reminds me of Iron Man…)! He learns he must never play with it nor fall in love! This is a tale of what happens when he does fall in love!

Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart movie reminds me of a Tim Burton film. If it wasn’t an animated movie – Johnny Depp would be staring it in it for sure! The graphics are somewhat dark but stunning. This movie releases on October 7, 2014 and will be available at major retailers including Amazon54. for $14.98.

2. Thunder and the House of Magic

If you have a fan of Selena Gomez at home you will want to get the DVD, Thunder and the House of Magic! This movie is an internationally acclaimed animated feature that will be exclusively available at Walmart starting September 30th (today!). Thunder is an abandoned cat who finds an old magic mansion full of gizmos. The mansion, owned by a retired magician, soon finds the unwanted house guest and things start to get wacky! This is a silly and fun tale appropriate for the whole family! The film features music from Selena Gomez.

 3. My Little Pony – Spooktacular Pony Tales

Halloween is just around the corner and My Little Pony is ready to celebrate with your little ones! I love all the holiday themed My Little Pony dvd’s and so does my daughter! This DVD is full of 6 Halloween themed episodes and a sing along! Your resident ponies, Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Rarity, Applejack, Pinkie Pie and Spike are all part of these episodes and have spooky adventures. This DVD is so fun for the Halloween season! My Little Pony – Friendship is Magic: Spooktacular Pony Tales is now available!

4. My Little Pony – The Complete Series

Feeling nostalgic? You need to check out the newest My Little Pony DVD set. This DVD set includes all of the original 65 episodes from our childhood! They may look different from the My Little Ponies today – but the adventures and music are still fun. I remember watching these shows as a kid – and Lennox thinks it’s so fun to watch older shows from when I was little!  A little more about the DVD collection:

You’re invited to return to Ponyland, the home of all your favorite classic Little Ponies, including the Earth Ponies, Unicorns, Pegasus Ponies, Flutter Ponies, Sea Ponies, Baby Sea Ponies, their human friends Megan, Danny and Molly and, of course, their dragon friend, Spike! Together, they live a life of games, songs and harmony with allies like the Bushwoolies and Furbobs. But, occasionally, there are problems in Ponyland and the Little Ponies of Paradise Estate must face evil witches, goblins, Stone Backs, Grundles and more! Now you can join in the fun and adventure with My Little Pony: The Complete Series!

My Little Pony: The Complete Series is available this week on Amazon for only $21!

 5. Hey Arnold! The Complete Series

Continue feeling nostalgic because one of my favorite Nickelodeon shows as a kid was Hey Arnold! I don’t know about you, but I was a complete Nickelodeon kid! When I received the full series box set – I was excited to show this one to Lennox as well. It is so different from the rest of the movies and shows listed here but it’s great! Remember Helga?

If you are unfamiliar with Hey Arnold! Here is a little more about the series:

Life in the big city is one big adventure for Arnold. Living with his grandparents, who run the Sunset Arms boarding house, Arnold shares a roof with a diverse and unusual menagerie of characters (including his pet pig!). But as any fourth grader knows, some of the most memorable people you’ll ever meet are in school. With friends like Arnold’s (including storyteller Gerald, class jinx Eugene, sometime-bully Harold, and the tomboy Helga, who harbors a secret crush on our hero), you can be sure that he’s got some funny exploits to share with fans.

This complete series box set of Hey Arnold! is now available on DVD at Walmart!

Note: I received early release copies of these DVD’s in return for this post. All opinions are 100% my own.
