It’s hard to believe we are into Flu season here in Texas. The weather has been ranging from 90 degrees last week to cold and in the 30’s this past weekend and rainy and 40s/50s today. The weather is all over the place and is just now starting to feel like fall – even though we are almost into winter! But, either way – Flu season is upon us and I REALLY hope we all stay healthy so that no one needs to suffer through the Flu or worse! Did you know that Flu Season starts in the fall and has a large peak in January/February? Right in time for my big vacation. I refuse to get sick so it’s time for some flu season preparation!
I was reading an article about the Flu Vaccination in Sam’s Club Healthy Living Made Simple Magazine and I realized that National Influenza Vaccination Week takes place in just a few weeks, December 7-13 and I hope to have our shots before then. Lennox’s pediatrician just got his shipment of vaccinations in, so we have to get into the office this week and get our shots. I know Lennox will not be looking forward to that shot – so I may talk to him about the mist – but I’m just not sure about it yet! Although, we tend to get our shots from the pediatrician, you can always walk right into Sam’s Club and get a shot.
They have a walk up clinic, and I was there at lunch time and there was NO LINE! So easy to just stop in and get your shot on your lunch break, after work or even on the weekend while you are doing your grocery shopping.
Anyway, since the sniffles, coughing and flu season is upon us, I decided to head to Sam’s Club this week, and stock up on a few essentials that will hopefully keep us healthy this winter.
Stay Healthy & Keep the Flu Away Checklist
- Hand Sanitizer
- Dial Complete Antibacterial Soap (Kills up to 99.99% of Germs!)
- Member’s Mark Disinfecting Wipes (Kills Flu Virus, Staph, Salmonella, Strep and E. Coli)
- Children’s Chewable Vitamins
- Emergen-C Immune + Drink Mix (for Mom & Dad)
- Tissues (in case we do get the sniffles)
I also went through my medicine cabinet and made sure all the medicines were not expired and we had everything we needed in the chance we do get hit with a nasty bug this winter. Fingers crossed, my “stay healthy” items will work, reminding Lennox of healthy habits, such as washing hands, not sharing drinks, etc and getting any illness taken care of ASAP if it does hit, will keep us happy and healthy all winter long!
