We are in the heart of football season. College football has ended for us here in Texas but our favorite Dallas team (as well as my favorite team from New England) is still in the running for the Big Game next month!

Since game day now is so critical, it’s fun to make watching the game somewhat of an event or highlight of the weekend! Football is something that the whole family can enjoy together, we tend to do other things during the game as well – whether it’s playing a board game, doing a little craft with Lennox or even eating some yummy snacks, it’s all fun and games!

Game Day SnacksThe next few weekends will be full of football so I decided to try two new snack ideas and both of them were 100% hits with Lennox! Finger foods are the best during a game so the snacks I decided to make for this weekend’s games are Chocolate Covered Football Pringles and a classic trail mix made with the new Cheez-It Crunch’d cheese puffs!

What you will need:

  • Pringles (Original Flavor)
  • Milk Chocolate Melts
  • White Chocolate Melts or White Almond Bark
  • Small Ziplock Style Bag or Pastry Bag (smallest tip)
  • Parchment/Wax Paper

How to make:

  1. Remove the Pringles from the can and put together in pairs, removing any broken or misshapen chips.
  2. In a microwave safe bowl, melt the Chocolate Melts as directed on the package (50% power for 1 minute + 30 second intervals until fully melted).

  3. Pour a little of the melted chocolate into a plastic ziplock style bag and cut a small hole in the end.

  4. Pipe the melted chocolate on top of Pringle in each pair. Place the other Pringle on top of it. This will act as “glue” for the two Pringles – making it easier to dip the Pringles without breaking!

  5. Once all of the pairs of chips are together, it is time to start dipping the Pringles! Having a container that makes the chocolate “deeper” is best, so that you can dip the whole chip in. If you are having any difficulty covering the whole chip, use a spoon to carefully cover the chip in chocolate. Place each dipped chip on wax or parchment paper to dry.

  6. Wait until all the chips are fully dry (30 minutes or so). Once they are dry, melt a small amount of white chocolate and put into a plastic bag, cutting the smallest hole in the bag. This will be used to draw the laces onto each football.

  7. Draw the laces onto each chocolate dipped Pringle to turn them into footballs!
  8. Set aside to dry (another 30 minutes or so) store in an air tight container at room temperature or serve & enjoy!

Chocolate Covered Pringles FootballsThe other great snack I made the classic trail mix that we all love with a little twist. I used the new Cheddar Cheese Cheez-It Crunch’d puffs! These are a brand new product from the makers of Cheez-It and they are the first-ever crunchy puff made with 100% real cheese. I used the Cheddar Cheese flavor, but they do have a Hot and Spicy flavor if that is your thing! I didn’t just make the trail mix though, I wanted to show you how create some super cute football themed snack cups – great for a party or for kids!

Football Themed Snack Cups with Cheez-It Crunch’d Trail Mix

To make these, I used my Silhouette machine. If you are extra crafty you could cut these out free hand as well, but I suggest a paper cutting machine, like the Silhouette!

What you will need:

  • Silhouette
  • Brown Card Stock
  • White Card Stock
  • Card Stock (in your favorite team colors)
  • Glue
  • Trail Mix

How to make:

  1. Using this Football snack box shape pattern and this Football Helmet shape pattern, I cut them out using brown card stock and my favorite team colors (in this case, Green vs. Blue).

  2. Construct the snack boxes together using glue. I did use Elmer’s Glue because I was in no hurry, but if you need or want to get these together quicker, use a fast drying tacky glue or hot glue!

  3. Add any embellishments to the designs – I added on the football laces and numbers onto each football helmet. This would be a great place to put your favorite players number or favorite team logo!

  4. Once the glue is dry, the snack cups are ready to be filled. In this case, we are using the Cheez-It Crunch’d trail mix that I put together.
  5. To make the Cheez-It Crunch’d Trail Mix, you will need:
    1. Cheez-it Crunch’d in your favorite flavor (Cheddar Cheese or Hot and Spicy)
    2. Popcorn
    3. Chocolate Pieces
    4. Dry Roasted Peanuts (or your favorite not)
    5. Raisins or any other dried fruit (optional)
  6. Mix all of these ingredients together in large bowl or plastic bag (I used a plastic bag to make clean up and storage easier!).
    Cheez-It Crunch'd Trail Mix
  7. Add the trail mix to your new football themed snack cups and serve! These are easy to make ahead of time for your favorite football game or even a Big Game party next month!

This is awesome, hey. What a great idea. It’s amazing what you can do with food – they offer as much a canvas as a piece of paper.

You are giving me ideas for the chocolates left over from Christmas baking!

Everything you created – start to bottom – is amazingly creative! I love the footballs and the snack boxes are incredible. You need to have a snack box section on your site just so we can all download your amazing snack box templates. WOW.
