Lennox’s Birth Story

I never actually wrote up Lennox’s birth story until September of 2012… you know, when she was already 3 years old. Bad mommy! I had shared this over at Sweet Bella Roos at that point, but thought it was finally time to get it onto my own blog! So here is Lennox Madalynn’s Birth Story from June 18, 2010!

Thursday June 17, 2012: Hospital Induction Check-In

Flash back to 30 minutes prior on the car ride there — I’m nervous, crying and excited, all at the same time. I was just overwhelmed with emotions and unsure of what was going to happen next. Would my baby girl be healthy? Would it hurt? Will there be a problem? Will I know what to do? It was a wide range of emotions!

I was schedule for an induction on the next morning, Friday, so I was told to check-in to the hospital the night before, at 8pm. We show up, with all our stuff and get settled into our room. I received my check up from the nurse and find out that I’m still only 1cm dilated, so it was time for some medicine to help me dilate overnight. I took my medicine, wait the required 30 minutes before getting up, took a shower then got ready to try and get some sleep {that didn’t happen, even with a sleeping pill}. I may have gotten a few hours of sleep that night, but I mean our lives were changing tomorrow, so sleep wasn’t exactly what was on my mind! Between that and nurses checking in over night, it’s hard to sleep!

Friday June 18, 2012: Birth Day

Today’s the day! We finally were going to meet your bundle of joy! By the morning, when the nurse came to check on me, I was now {I think} 3cm dilated… not that much progress overnight. We started the induction medicine and get all hooked up to the IVs, monitor, etc. No more getting out of bed for me. This was about 7:30am. My doctor came in and broke my water around 10:30am and I followed that up with getting my epidural. I had said I wanted to wait after my water broke so I could feel the contractions until I felt the pain was about a 5 or 6 {out of 10} I think by the time I got 4, I was ready! I’m a wimp! Honestly, getting the epidural was the worse part of the pre-birth and birth process. All of a sudden my contractions got a lot worse and it was hard to sit still while getting the epidural. But once I had it, it was smooth sailing!

My family came in to visit me while we waited, a little after lunch time I decided I better try to rest. Just as it was about to rest, I had a sudden feeling of pressure, I told Kyle to get the nurse. They came and checked on me and said I was at a 9, and had really progressed and it was almost time! Eek!

The nurse called the doctor and started to get everything ready. The room sure did transform at that time! Things showed up and came down from the ceiling that i had no idea were even there!  Kyle got excited, I got nervous and started crying/shaking again! I was overwhelmed again! I finally got relaxed enough to calm down and wait on the doctor. I hung in there as long as I could so that we could push for the least amount of time as possible.

The last 30 minutes of contractions were hurting and I was so ready to have this baby! Once my doctor got there, it was time to PUSH! I think I only pushed for about 4 or 5 rounds of 3 pushes each, and then our first Daughter was born! We welcomed Lennox Madalynn into this world at 4:23PM. She weighed 6 pounds 11 ounces and as 18.5 inches long. LOTS of brown hair, blue eyes and she was perfectly perfect in every way.

birth-story-02 birth-story-03 birth-story-04We stayed the typical 48 hours in the hospital with no real problems, other than I was in a pretty good amount of pain. I didn’t shower, get out of bed much or even put my pajamas on — thinking back, I really should have put some pajamas on and gotten more comfortable for when guests came. Oh well! We came home to my mom who had decorated the house with pink flowers, princess balloon, cake, and nice and clean! I love moms! We were lucky enough to have her stay with us for the summer, which was a huge help since this was baby #1! We were spoiled by all the help we had.

birth-story-05That’s about it! That is my birth story with Lennox. Honestly, it’s not that eventful of exciting but I’m glad it isn’t! It went smoothly and if I ever have another child, at least I know what to expect!
