Tips for Buying Clothes that FIT!

I never bring my daughter with me when I do my consignment shopping – that just sounds like a terrible idea to me! She would be running around like a crazy person! Well, I found some tips online for buying clothes that will actually fit and they have ended up working out great for me!

  • Shirt and Pant Length – This tip comes from Froggy and the Mouse – Measure your child’s arms and leg length and then mark that length on your arms (if you can) so that each time you hold up an item – you know if it will fit! If you have a taller kid or don’t want to mark your arm – you can always cut string in those lengths and bring them with you! It should give you the best idea if the item fits!

  • The Right Size Shoes – Shoes are a big one for me when I go shopping. Kids grow out of shoes so fast, especially dress shoes – that I hate to pay full price. I have found that tracing my daughter’s foot onto card stock and then cutting it out – lets me slip the paper into a shoe to see how it would fit! You can see how I do this here.

How to Find the Best Deals

Finding the best deals is what makes Consignment shopping so much fun to me! If you go in with a list, knowledge and are prepared to look around for quite some time – you will leave with some great buys! I put together 5 ways to find the Best Deal – you can find that here. To highlight:

  1. Shop Early!
  2. Make a Good List!
  3. Know the Brands

It’s JBF Fort Worth Time Again + Giveaway!

It’s that time of year again, time for consignment sales! The largest consignment sale in Texas is only a few weeks away and I want you to head to Fort Worth and shop your little heart out with me! If you have followed my blog for any time, you know how much I love Just Between Friends Fort Worth. If you are new, welcome, and get ready to get excited about shopping for your children!
Just Between Friends Fort Worth

Just Between Friends Fort Worth is the largest consignment sale in Texas because it is 75,000 square feet of children & maternity items! That’s right, 75,000 sq feet! That is HUGE! Here is an idea of how big and how many items they really have:

JBF-FortWorth299777_10151491384034243_446842047_n You can find almost anything for children ranging from maternity to newborns, toddlers, young children and even tweens! Strollers, Toys & Clothes, oh my!

I believe this will be my 7th time shopping JBF and I am really looking forward to it. I buy almost all of Lennox’s clothing at Just Between Friends. The fall sale is my favorite because I can find all her holiday themed clothing; from Halloween themed clothing, Halloween costumes, Thanksgiving dress, to Christmas dresses! I am also able to find Christmas presents, school uniforms, shoes and dress up clothes. You can find some of my past deals here and here!

So if this all looks good to you and you are in the Dallas / Fort Worth area, make sure you head to Will Rogers Memorial Center – Amon G. Carter Exhibit Hall! The sale is open to the public Saturday, August 30, 2014 – Saturday, September 6, 2014 – Check the Full schedule for presale and volunteer shopping times. Volunteering is the best way to shop earlier than the public and find even better deals! If you are a first time parent (expecting or have a child under 12 months of age), make sure you sign up for the first time parent presale! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a comment – I love talking about JBF and sharing all my tips and tricks!

Children’s Consignment 101: Buying Shoes that FIT

It’s consignment sale season and as I prepare to head to my semi-annual shopping spree at Just Between Friends Fort Worth, I finally decided to start a Consignment 101 series on my blog. It will probably span over multiple months/years as we continue to meet up with consignment sale seasons, but I hope the tips are helpful for both newbie and veteran consignment shoppers!

My first tip is how to buy shoes that actually fit your kids (without them being there!). When I shop consignment sales, my daughter does not come with me – 1, because children aren’t allowed in the presages and 2, it is SO much easier to shop without her there!!

So what exactly is my tip and how do you do it? First off, trace your childs feet onto a piece of paper. You probably only need one foot but I did both just incase i either loose one at the sale or want to make sure something really will fit! Then you just need to cut them out and label which foot they are. Slip them into shoes as you are checking them out at the sale and you should be able to tell right away if it will be too small, too big or just right!
