I use My Data, My Way to Find Fun Spring Crafts

Have you heard about the new phones and services that Walmart is now offering through their Walmart Family Mobile plan? In the past I have shared some information about Walmart Family Mobile and how much money you really can save (read here to see how I could save over 50% a year by switching to Walmart Family Mobile). Recently we purchased the Samsung Galaxy Avant phone from Walmart to try out. Kyle now has a work phone, so we may not need to keep two full term contracts plus a work phone – maybe we can start cashing in on those savings again with Walmart Family Mobile!

One great thing about the Walmart Family Mobile plan is that the $29.88/month no-contract plan includes Unlimited Talk, Text & Data services. The Data plan includes put o 500MB of 4G LTE coverage each month at no additional cost. I love that I can use this data anyway I want, anywhere I am. Whether I’m at the craft store buying new supplies, at work looking through emails, or even posting photos to Facebook of Lennox – I can do it all without being on WiFi with this phone. One thing I’m always doing on my phone is searching Pinterest and other family blogs for new and fun craft ideas to do with Lennox on the weekends.

With Earth Day approaching and spring here, I decided that it was time to get some gardening done at home and who better to help me with, than Lennox! Each year we make some new and cute flower pots, but this year I decided to use some recycled plastic bottles and turn them into flower pots! This is what you need to do to create this easy and fun craft at home too.

Recycled Plastic Bottle Flower Pots, Recycled Planters

  • Plastic Bottles
  • Scissors
  • Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Potting Soil
  • Flowers or Seeds

STEP 1: Take your empty plastic bottles and cut them in half. I found that poking a hole in one side and then cutting them with scissors works best. Soda bottles, ice tea bottles, milk jugs, anything will work!

STEP 2: Next, set up some paints and an area to let your kids be creative with their designs! Paint the outside of the plastic bottles and let dry.

STEP 3: Once dry, fill the flower pots with potting soil.

STEP 4: Plant some seeds or add a flower to the pots. Water and watch the flowers bloom!

That’s it! It’s really easy and a great way to reduce reuse and recycle the plastic bottles in your house, as well as brighten up your home for the spring! It was a big hit with Lennox!

How do you use your Data when you are on the go? Do you spend A LOT of money on your cell phone bill? If so – you really should check out Walmart Family Mobile.

With a bill of only $29.88/month for the first line, a huge savings is waiting for you! Also – if you are looking for a smart phone, I have really liked the Samsung Galaxy Avent. This is the first Samsung phone I have used and I found it easy to use (as did Lennox – you know, for watching Netflix in the car!) and it had all the features I needed, at a lower price.

television shows of an 80s kid

TV Show Flashback

Last week, I was talking to a friend about TV shows we loved as a kid. I could name off tons of shows that I watched but there are a few that stick in my mind. I didn’t always watch them as much as some – but I still remember them clearly and love them! I pulled together the intro videos for each of them to jog your memory!

television shows of an 80s kid

Here are my Top 5 shows from an 80’s kid!

Small Wonder:

Small Wonder was the show about a family whose father had created a robot daughter, Vicki. She stayed in the closet at night and then acted as the daughter during the day. How creepy, huh?

Today’s Special!:

Today’s Special is one I don’t even know anyone who watched it. It took me years to finally figure out what show I was thinking of. No one had heard of it – but we finally found it on YouTube one day. It was a show where after closing hours, the store mannequin came to life. Again… Creepy?

Full House:

Full House — Who doesn’t know Full House? I loved Uncle Jessie, Uncle Joey, Michelle “You Got It Dude!”, Stephanie “How Rude!” and DJ. I think I have seen every single episode, at least 10 times. My favorite episode was the one when they got to go to the Beach Boys concert!

Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Are You Afraid of the Dark was part of SNICK. Saturday night Nickelodeon programming. I was a total Nickelodeon kid – I loved it! Watching the intro to this show makes me realize it really was probably quiet scary/creepy. I remember one of my best friends, not being able to watch all of it because it was too scary. I want to find a full episode and watch it now to see if it’s very scary!

Hey, Dude!

Hey, Dude was maybe a sign that I was going to end up in the south? It was show based on a ranch and it really was just the stories of the kid’s who were working there.

I also asked Kyle what his #1 show as a kid was, and to my surprise it was Saved By the Bell. Also, one of my favorites. I would relate it to the Friends sitcom for kids. It followed their everyday life and what they went through in High School and College. It seemed so cool – remember Zack Morris’ cell phone??
