The bluebonnets are in full bloom this year in Texas. We had a pretty mild winter and a good amount of rain so we have been able to have a full, long season of bluebonnets! If you are unaware of the bluebonnet tradition, you should read this, but the long and short – pretty much every kid gets their picture taken in the bluebonnets at some point if you live in Texas! It’s a Texas Tradition. Lennox loves these flowers and we always have some fun taking pictures!
We tried some new places to take pictures this year. My neighbor found a field in Grapevine, that was not as thick, but it was quiet, away from the road and had some great trees surrounding it, for a good backdrop! Here are a few of my favorite pictures from that field.
She looks so big, but when we found a thick full of Bluebonnets this weekend close to the house, I realized just how big she really is! Hello legs for days – Lennox is getting SO tall!
It’s great to look back at her bluebonnet pictures from the years – and watch her grow up with this fun tradition! Here is a quick look back:
Sunday we spent the day at the Dallas Arboretum for the first time. The weather was absolutely gorgeous (it actually got *too* hot at one point and we got sunburns!). We had never been to the Arboretum before but right now Dallas Blooms festival is going on and I had heard it was beautiful. Everyone was right – all the flowers were amazing. It’s refreshing to see so much beauty growing in the middle of a city!
I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite photos from the day. I’m sure there will be plenty more, as we purchased an annual membership so that we can head back plenty of times. Lennox will make sure we bring her bathing suit this time (for the sprinklers) and a picnic on the lawn!
I have never seen real cherry blossom blooming and I was so happy to see they were all blooming in Dallas this weekend. Their flower petals were falling and Lennox said it was snowing!
This is Lennox in the middle of a huge bird nest house – It’s a random shot but I like how it came out.
There are so many tulips in bloom right now. They were my favorite. So many colors and variations, everywhere! So much Spring! What a diva this girl is…This is Lennox’s “If I smile for a picture will you buy me popcorn face”. Lennox wanted to go through the sprinklers so bad. We didn’t have any new clothes for her so we told her just to go to the edge… well, that lasted for a few minutes and then we got this look and watch what happened…
She was so happy and ended up going through many times again before we left! Silly girl.
Before leaving she found a little friend to play in the fountain with. They would dip their fingers in and then write letters on the stone. They were so sweet to each other. So that was our day at the Dallas Arboretum. If you are in the area, you really should check it out!
