How to Make Glitter Sidewalk Chalk Paint

Have the #BestSummerEver – Make Glitter Sidewalk Chalk Paint in 5 Minutes!

“I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Banana Boat®. I received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for my participation.”

It’s summer and we live in Texas. That means its HOT all the time and sunny almost every day. Although its summer, and school is out for most kids, Lennox still goes to school. She goes to school, year round – so after school and on the weekends we try to find fun activities. I want Lennox to still experience summer and truly have the #BestSummerEver! So after school yesterday we headed outside, put on our Banana Boat sunscreen and had some fun!

Once we were ready for some fun in the sun, we decided to make Glitter Sidewalk Chalk Paint! We love drawing with chalk on the walkway and sidewalk, but the idea of paint got Lennox so excited!

How to Make Glitter Sidewalk Chalk Paint

What you will need:

  • Glitter
  • Sidewalk Chalk
  • Water
  • Paint Brushes
  • Bowls/Cups

How to make:

  1. Take a few pieces of sidewalk chalk, put each color into individual ziplock bags.
  2. With a hammer or rolling-pin, break up the chalk into small pieces. Add glitter if you wish.
  3. Once the chalk is broken up, pour into a small bowl or cup and mix with water. Add a little water at a time and mix together. The more water you add, the lighter the color will be. Add more glitter if needed!!

That’s it! Use your hands or a paint brush and start creating fun sidewalk pictures!

Reminder: When playing out in the sun, make sure your children and yourself apply Sunscreen, approx. 2 tablespoons, to all exposed skin. If you can put it on prior to heading into the sun, that would be even better so that it has time to soak in. If playing in the water, re-apply every two hours. Banana Boat® is one of our trusted, tried and true sunscreens that we recommend!

I use My Data, My Way to Find Fun Spring Crafts

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser, Walmart Family Mobile. All opinions are mine alone. #MyDataMyWay #CollectiveBias

Have you heard about the new phones and services that Walmart is now offering through their Walmart Family Mobile plan? In the past I have shared some information about Walmart Family Mobile and how much money you really can save (read here to see how I could save over 50% a year by switching to Walmart Family Mobile). Recently we purchased the Samsung Galaxy Avant phone from Walmart to try out. Kyle now has a work phone, so we may not need to keep two full term contracts plus a work phone – maybe we can start cashing in on those savings again with Walmart Family Mobile!

One great thing about the Walmart Family Mobile plan is that the $29.88/month no-contract plan includes Unlimited Talk, Text & Data services. The Data plan includes put o 500MB of 4G LTE coverage each month at no additional cost. I love that I can use this data anyway I want, anywhere I am. Whether I’m at the craft store buying new supplies, at work looking through emails, or even posting photos to Facebook of Lennox – I can do it all without being on WiFi with this phone. One thing I’m always doing on my phone is searching Pinterest and other family blogs for new and fun craft ideas to do with Lennox on the weekends.

With Earth Day approaching and spring here, I decided that it was time to get some gardening done at home and who better to help me with, than Lennox! Each year we make some new and cute flower pots, but this year I decided to use some recycled plastic bottles and turn them into flower pots! This is what you need to do to create this easy and fun craft at home too.

Recycled Plastic Bottle Flower Pots, Recycled Planters

  • Plastic Bottles
  • Scissors
  • Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Potting Soil
  • Flowers or Seeds

STEP 1: Take your empty plastic bottles and cut them in half. I found that poking a hole in one side and then cutting them with scissors works best. Soda bottles, ice tea bottles, milk jugs, anything will work!

STEP 2: Next, set up some paints and an area to let your kids be creative with their designs! Paint the outside of the plastic bottles and let dry.

STEP 3: Once dry, fill the flower pots with potting soil.

STEP 4: Plant some seeds or add a flower to the pots. Water and watch the flowers bloom!

That’s it! It’s really easy and a great way to reduce reuse and recycle the plastic bottles in your house, as well as brighten up your home for the spring! It was a big hit with Lennox!

How do you use your Data when you are on the go? Do you spend A LOT of money on your cell phone bill? If so – you really should check out Walmart Family Mobile.

With a bill of only $29.88/month for the first line, a huge savings is waiting for you! Also – if you are looking for a smart phone, I have really liked the Samsung Galaxy Avent. This is the first Samsung phone I have used and I found it easy to use (as did Lennox – you know, for watching Netflix in the car!) and it had all the features I needed, at a lower price.

DIY Wood Conversation Hearts, DIY Valentine's day Project

DIY Wood Conversation Hearts

Here is another quick and easy DIY Valentine’s Day project for your home. I had a little bit greater visions for this project but I still think it came out cute!

DIY Wood Conversation Hearts, DIY Valentine's day Project DIY Wood Conversation Hearts

All you need for this is:

  • Wood Hearts
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Sticker Letters or White Paint for names
  • Ribbon
  • Hot Glue

How to make:

To make these wood conversation hearts – all you need to do is:

  1. Paint the hearts in a variety of valentine’s colors. I stuck with the traditional candy colors, but you could do ombre pinks and reds – or any color you wish!

  2. Once they are dry, you will want to either paint on each family member’s names or use letter stickers to spell out their names. This is where you can get more creative than I did!

  3. Taking a hot glue gun and some red/valentine’s themed ribbon, put a line down the back of each heart, one by one and glue onto the ribbon.
  4. Create a bow to attach to the top and bottom of the decoration and hang!

That’s it – It’s really simple and very cheap. I believe 3 wooden hearts are $3 at my local craft store and I had all of the other supplies.
