Components of Injectable Wrinkle Fillers

Its consistency is thicker compared to that of hyaluronic acid, and its effects will last longer than the latter’s at about a year in most people.

Poly-L-Lactic Acid

This is a biocompatible and biodegradable synthetic product which has been used in the past in various medical devices including soluble stitches in surgeries. Poly-L-lactic acid fillers are generally categorized as collagen stimulators.

They primarily work by rebuilding your natural collagen stores which in turn smooth wrinkles. The effects of Poly-L-lactic acid products last for at least two years, and they are used for deep wrinkles. The most common FDA-approved type of poly-L-lactic acid filler is Sculptra Aesthetic.

Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA)

This is a biocompatible synthetic product which has been used in medical circles for ages. PMMA, when used in dermal fillers, is a tiny ball or microsphere which remains under your skin indefinitely for the provision of continued support.

PMMA fillers also contain collagen which boosts your skin’s firmness and support. The standard FDA-approved PMMA filler is Bellafill or Artefill.
